News - Obama Looking to Beef Up Primary Care

So, now that Obama is trying to find a way to give every one medical insurance from the national coffer, he has realized that we don't have nearly enough doctors to take care of all the people with new found coverage. Solution - incentives for primary care physicians.

Shortage of Doctors Proves Obstacle to Obama Goals

I'm STOKED about incentives for primary care providers. Lord knows the barriers to entry are colossal. But I still have a few concerns.

My concerns:

  • Will government money lead to government control of health care?
  • Will the president of the U.S. get to tell me how good of a doctor I'm allowed to be.
  • If I wanted to be "off the grid," (i.e. private practice, don't take insurance) would I still be "allowed."
  • Is the phrase "good enough for government work" gonna find its way into health care?
